The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) developed the Impact Texas Drivers program to prevent road accidents and save lives. The program uses a free video to teach new drivers about the dangers of distracted driving. You can complete the program online using a desktop computer or laptop.

Everyone applying for a driver's license in Texas must watch an Impact Texas Drivers video before they can take their driving skills examination. The program has two versions: 影响德州青少年司机 and Impact Texas Young Drivers.

Texas DPS requires drivers to watch the video after completing their driver education course. TexasDrivingSchool.com does not provide Impact Texas Drivers videos, so you'll have to visit the Texas DPS website 报名参加这个项目.

After you finish the video, simply print the certificate of completion provided by Texas DPS and bring it to the driver license office when you're ready to take your driving skills examination.

影响德州青少年司机 Overview

影响德州青少年司机 (ITTD) is a free two-hour video about the consequences of distracted driving. It is designed for drivers who completed a teen driver education course or a parent-taught driver education course.

The ITTD program shares the stories of real teens who lost their lives because of texting while driving and other types of distractions. The video is divided into eight sections, and you do not need to complete all the sections in one sitting.

课程主题包括:

  • Dangers of reckless and distracted driving
  • Risks of using your phone or multitasking behind the wheel
  • 青少年车祸风险
  • Restrictions for novice drivers and passengers
  • Texas-specific statistics on distracted driving

Teen drivers should take the ITTD course after completing a teen driver education course and a behind-the-wheel driver education course.

Impact Texas Young Drivers Overview

Impact Texas Young Drivers (ITYD) is a free one-hour video that also focuses on the dangers of distracted driving and multitasking behind the wheel. It is designed for drivers who completed an adult driver education course or drivers ages 25 and up who are required to take a driving skills exam.

The program explains how poor choices behind the wheel can cause devastating accidents that change lives forever. The video is split into three parts, and you are not required to watch them all in one sitting.

课程主题包括:

  • The effects of distracted driving
  • Activities that take your attention off the road
  • How to avoid accidents through defensive driving
  • Texas statistics on distracted driving incidents

Drivers ages 18 to 24 should take the ITYD course after completing a six-hour adult driver education course or a behind-the-wheel driver education course.

How Do I Get My ITD Certificate?

After you complete the appropriate ITD course, Texas DPS will email you a certificate of completion. You must then print the certificate and bring it to the driver license office when you're ready to take your driving skills exam.

Once you receive the certificate from Texas DPS, you have 90 days to pass your skills exam. If you don't pass the exam before your certificate expires, you must retake the ITD program.
